Mainstream champion for sure! Gaming performance beyond anything from previous gen or what AyyyyMD can muster, multi nearly matching that of 5950x and you can pair it with an entry level Z690 board (bar 2 or 3 worst ones) or even a solid B660 and ddr4 if you want to save a couple hundred extra...

Fastest cpu overall, much faster in games and can be had for barely more than 7900x on a (potentially, if you so choose) much cheaper platform to boot! What's not to like, except of course, if you're a hardcore red team fanboy, then there will always be a pea under the mattress... :D

Precisely! Under proper, gpu-constrained circumstances (top cpu, 4k resolution, rt), it is anything but a "generic performance leap" and is simply leagues above everything else and will most likely retain a very healthy lead even against the best rdna3 will have to offer.

...the RX 6900 XT is a formidable 4K gaming graphics card... Not really...Somewhat ironically (for being their almost top card), it's actually best suited for high refresh rate 1080p and 1440p gaming without RT: That won't happen anytime soon, now that both will be on the same process...

Couldn't agree more and I've stated the same several times. Those of us with some "mileage" also clearly remember when they started to be this bad (not that they were great before, mind you) - it was in second half of 2006 when AMD got dealt a twin death blow in quick succession, so to say...

Funny that you should mention a laptop from 2008, because I also happen to have one from that exact year that also still works (HP with a 2Ghz Core 2 Duo), however the temps never exceed 70 degrees! This can make all the difference in the world as far as longevity is concerned.
